The aims of this study were to (1) to assess the absolute and relative between-session reliability of the SEBT and 2 novel variations of this test to assess trunk postural control while sitting, ie, the Star Excursion Sitting Test (SEST) and the Star Excursion Timing Test (SETT) and (2) to analyze the relationships between these 3 test scores. Furthermore, there is an evident high influence of the lower limbs in the performance of the SEBT, so even if it has been used to measure core stability, it is possibly not the most suitable measurement. In order to increase reliability it is recommended that the average of the three measured attempts is analysed. In the study of adolescent dynamic equilibrium using the Y-BT, it is recommended to perform nine attempts (including six trial attempts and three measurements). The intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC 3,1 ), standard error of measurement and minimal detectable change values for the three attempts ranged from 0.57 to 0.82, from 3 to less than 6% and from 7.68 to 13.7%, respectively. Correlations and partial correlations controlling for height were analyzed. SEBT directions were offset by 180° to approximate LOS direction. Healthy adults (n=31) completed the LOS (levels 6 and 12) and SEBT (both legs). Two tests of postural stability - the Star Excursion Balance Test ( SEBT) and Biodex Balance System Limits of Stability Test (LOS) - were examined to determine if similar components of balance were measured.
